The Djibouti Chamber of Commerce and the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry strengthen their partnership
On the sidelines of the official visit of the Governor of the City of Mogadishu to Djibouti, the President of the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce (CCD), Mr. Youssouf Moussa Dawaleh, received a major delegation from the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Somalia), led by its President, Mr. Yasin Mohamoud Ibar.
On the morning of 15 September 2026, the delegation visited the CCD’s Resource and Skills Centre (CRC).
During this visit, delegation members learned about the wide range of services and capacity-building activities offered by the CRC. These are designed to support economic stakeholders in the logistics and transport sector and to develop their professional skills.
This was followed by a business meeting held at the Sheraton Hotel in Djibouti, bringing together several economic operators from both countries, in the presence of the President of the CCD, as well as members of the institution’s Board and elected representatives. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for expanding trade and partnerships between the Djiboutian and Somali business communities.
Geographical proximity, along with the historical and cultural ties between the two countries, provides a favourable framework for strengthening these exchanges and fostering new joint initiatives.
The meeting continued with a luncheon hosted in honour of the Somali delegation.
Following this visit, the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Somalia) and the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce (CCD) signed, on 16 September 2026 at the Ayla Hotel, a Memorandum of Understanding.
This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and facilitate exchanges between their business communities, notably through the development of partnerships and the identification of new economic opportunities.
